Indication
Luminopia has been shown to improve visual clarity in amblyopia (lazy eye) patients, aged 4 to <13, associated with vision imbalance and/or with mild crossed eye. Luminopia is intended to be used as an addition to full-time glasses, which should also be worn under the headset during Luminopia treatment. A prescription for Luminopia is required. It should be used at home.
Safety
  • No serious side effects reported with Luminopia
  • Most common side effect reported were headaches (14.3% Luminopia vs. 1.7% control), all graded as mild and not lasting
  • Cases of new or worsening eye-turn were balanced between groups (7.1% Luminopia vs. 8.5% control)
  • Rate of all ocular side effects similar between groups
  • Safety of Luminopia in children aged 8 - 12 is expected to be in line with the safety in children aged 4 - 7.
Important Information About Luminopia
  • Patients should only use Luminopia while wearing their prescribed glasses under the headset
  • Patients should wear Luminopia while seated or lying down
  • Patients with a history of light-induced seizures, serious medical conditions, new or worsening eye-turn, or double vision should contact their doctor for additional evaluation and permission
  • Patients should stop using Luminopia and contact their doctor for additional evaluation if they experience worsening vision in either eye, headache, nausea, eye strain that doesn't go away after usage, dizziness, or increased night terrors

Study Design
Luminopia was evaluated in a clinical study of 117 patients, ages 4-7 with unilateral amblyopia (lazy eye) associated with anisometropia (vision imbalance) and/or strabismus (crossed eye). The clinical trial compared Luminopia 1 hour/day, 6 days/week with full-time glasses vs full-time glasses alone and measured the change in vision at 12 weeks.

Luminopia was evaluated via a Real-World Registry of 334 patients aged 4 to <13 with a diagnosis of amblyopia (lazy eye) associated with anisometropia (vision imbalance) and/or strabismus (crossed eye). All aspects of treatment including dosage and duration were at the discretion of the prescribing physician. The primary endpoint was change in vision from time of Luminopa prescription to the Last Follow-Up visit available.
