Your Plan Hasn’t Covered Luminopia — But Your Family Still Has Options

Michigan Medicaid does not cover Luminopia at this time. We know that’s frustrating, but we’ve got your back. Luminopia offers a Patient Access Program so your child can still start treatment, and we’ll give you the tools to advocate for your plan to cover Luminopia in the future.

The Luminopia Patient Access Program

We’re committed to making sure every child who is prescribed Luminopia can access therapy — regardless of insurance. If your family is concerned about cost, CoAssist will walk you through access program options when they receive your doctor’s prescription.

Getting Started on Luminopia through the Patient Access Program

Step 1 — Talk to Your Doctor About Luminopia

Ask your child’s eye doctor if Luminopia is right for them. If your doctor is unfamiliar with prescribing Luminopia, they can visit the Healthcare Professional tab on our website for additional information.

If you are looking for a provider near you already familiar with Luminopia:

Step 2 — CoAssist Confirms Receipt by Text

Once CoAssist receives your child’s prescription, they’ll send you a secure text to confirm. If you haven’t heard from them within 3 business days, you can reach them at (855) 382-2533.

Step 3 — A Pharmacy Team Member Calls You to Discuss Cost

A pharmacy team member will then call you to walk through your monthly cost and the next steps to get your child started on treatment.

Advocate for Future Coverage

Insurance policies change when members and providers speak up. We’ve created two ready-to-send templates to make that easy for you:

1. Request Coverage From Your Benefits Provider or Employer

Use this template to ask your insurance plan (or your employer’s HR/benefits team) to review their current coverage decision for Luminopia.

2. Have Your Child’s Doctor Submit a Coverage Request

Your eye doctor can also submit a formal coverage request on your child’s behalf. Share this template with their office.
